$5-$5-$5-$5 1902, Mount Clemens MI, Ch-12971, Uncut Blue Seal Sheet. Even Albert A. Grinnell didn't own one and he chased uncut sheets from his home state with a special vigor. Mt. Clemens is the county seat for Macomb County. It rose to prominence immediately after the Civil War when therapeutic properties were discovered in the city's mineral springs. By the 1920s, stars of stage and screen traveled to the city for treatment and relaxation. This sheet is formerly from the National Bank of Detroit Coin and Currency Museum. Full selvedge on all margins, with crisp signatures of both bank officials. This sheet is one of two known. Long ago, the other brought over $15k. Gem
