5c Fractional Currency, Fr. 1228
Perforated Edges; With Monogram
First design of postage currency with perforated edges. These edges later proved to be difficult in commerce as they would tear and easily get damaged. They also were much harder to produce in the American Banknote Company than the straight edge design that they later transitioned to. Please note there's a comment of 'minor adhesive residue' which exists at the top center on the back.
