$10 1880 Silver Cert Fr. 289 Robert Morris BLACK BACK 2nd Finest PMG Ch Unc 63

The margins that frame this note are a touch shy of a Gem grade. The colors are stunning, with as bold a seal as one will find for the type. A perfectly centered back design, featuring the large word SILVER in black inks reminded the holder of its redemption status, payable on demand in silver dollars. The PMG Population Report lists four Gems in its tally, but none has ever been offered at auction. As such, this note is tied for the 2nd finest to be offered publicly with none above 64 having surfaced.

While we certainly believe this note offers tremendous eye-appeal at a terrific value, here are the last two public sales records of this note graded 63 to help you decide:
April 2025: $15,600 (Stacks Bowers)
March 2024: $18,000 (Stacks Bowers)

Lastly, this exact note previously realized $18,800 in a Heritage sale. Own it for nearly $3k less, today.
