An exceptionally clean XF note with paper originality that hails from a tougher Friedberg number for this unredeemable note. Fr. 1225c is often found payable to a national bank. In this case it is the Farmers & Mechanics National Bank of Philadelphia. The note does have the usual hole punch cancels, as that was the fate that awaited all examples of this design with the Vernon-Treat Treasury signature combination along with the comment of 'stains' as a poignant reminder of the time this spent in a blazing fire before being doused by fire hoses and saved and preserved for collectors to appreciate.
