The front of the deuce features allegorical figures representing Science presenting Steam and Electricity to Commerce and Manufacture. The back design shows two bold, commanding portraits of inventors Robert Fulton and Samuel Morse who are framed in ornate detail. Fulton, known for his development of the steamboat, and Morse, the creator of the telegraph, embody the surge of innovation during the 19th century.
