$10-$10 186_ UNCUT REMAINDER PAIR Citizens' Bank of Louisiana PCGS 64 PPQ

+
Originally incorporated in 1833, the Citizens' Bank of Louisiana was one of the larger and most respected banks in the South. It survived the Civil War and remained in business for another decade until suspending in 1874. The bank likely succumbed to the lingering financial impact of the Civil War along with the Panic of 1873. This is the top half of a four subject sheet (note the three full margins and the bottom margin) of the bank's very popular "Dix Notes". Printed by National Bank Note Company in the time leading up to the Civil War, the notes feature a large vignette of an ocean going steamer and a male portrait. This is all offset by a lavish red tint block covering the bottom half of the note and a fancy red back.Always popular with collectors even though not particularly rare, this half sheet should attract significant attention with its vibrant colors on both sides!
