$5 1934-A Fr. 2307 WWII Emergency Issue NORTH AFRICA Yellow Seal Blue Serials Fine

This Series 1934-A $5 North Africa Emergency Issue Silver Certificate, Fr. 2307, features Abraham Lincoln’s portrait, blue serial numbers, and the distinctive yellow Treasury seal that identifies this wartime issue. The green reverse depicts the Lincoln Memorial. Offered in Fine condition, this circulated example has a single tiny pinhole visible only when backlit.

Introduced in 1942 for American forces serving in North Africa and subsequently the Mediterranean theater, these emergency notes carried yellow seals so they could be readily identified and declared invalid if captured by enemy forces. That practical precaution made their distinctive appearance an important part of America’s wartime financial preparations. An approachable example for a WWII collection, Silver Certificate set, or collection of small-size U.S. currency.
