$1 1918 Federal Reserve Bank Note - Cleveland Fr. 720 FRBN Green Heraldic Eagle PCGS Ch Unc 64 PPQ

This Series 1918 $1 Federal Reserve Bank Note from Cleveland, Fr. 720, features George Washington’s portrait on the face and an eagle carrying the American flag across the reverse. Known as the “Green Eagle,” this patriotic design is especially striking in the generous proportions of large-size currency. Certified PCGS Choice Uncirculated 64 PPQ, this example combines uncirculated preservation with the desirable Premium Paper Quality designation, recognizing its paper originality.

Introduced during World War I, these notes helped maintain the nation’s currency supply as silver certificates were withdrawn following the melting of Treasury silver dollars under the Pittman Act of 1918. Its connection to wartime finance and the early Federal Reserve system adds historical depth to the engraving. A compelling addition to a large-size type collection, Cleveland district set, or collection of American eagle designs.
