A colorful Civil War era ace with a few folds spaced across the note. This is the type of Greenback that Scarlett O'Hara took from the Yankee deserter she shot dead as he climbed the staircase of Tara towards her asking, "What've you got hidden in your hand?" This note has pleasing eye-appeal and features the bust of Salmon P. Chase, Secretary of the Treasury under Abraham Lincoln, 1861- 1864, and Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, 1864-1873. He is probably best known to numismatists for his causing the motto "In God We Trust" to be adopted for our national coinage. The graders comment "Minor Repairs" which seems to refer to two sealed splits on the note...one at the top center and the other to the left of Chase's portrait. Such professional repairs improve the overall look of the note on this significant example of America's First One Dollar!
