A visually appealing issue printed by The American Bank Note Company, featuring portraits of the Countess and Earl of Minto with "FOUR" in the upper left and right. This was the last of the $4 denominations printed, and was only in issue for a short period, from June to September of 1911 to alleviate a shortage of paper money. When the shortage abated, production of these notes ceased and they were withdrawn from circulation by the Department of Finance in the beginning of following year -- making it easily the scarcest of the three Charlton numbers for this denomination. We're beyond thrilled to have such an exciting example of a scarce note preserved with eight exceptional margins, bold inks, incredible eye-appeal, and an even better story for this odd denomination Canadian trophy.
