$1 1981-A FRN - Misaligned Overprint Error
RARE: LEFT SHIFT
An exciting and moderate example of a misaligned overprint print error featuring the serials, seals, and district designators shifted to the left. While more dramatic shifts undoubtedly occur within the error sector, this note is more significant than first blush might suggest. Of all the possible directions for misalignments (left, right, up, and down) this direction is the rarest with only a small percentage of print elements shifted to the left.
Of the few that are shifted to this direction, not many have been preserved in original, pristine condition with well-balanced margins and encapsulated for generations of protection and enjoyment.
This error is featured on page 178 of the 4th ed. of United States Paper Money Errors where it was assigned a book value of $200 in Ch CU and $250 in Gem. That book was published in 2015, and we know the error market has shown tremendous strength over the last decade.
We're thrilled to have a high-grade example of a seldom-seen error at a price that offers a tremendous value and remains affordable for even entry-level collectors!
