$1 1963-B FRN JOSEPH W. BARR AUTOGRAPH Secretary of Treasury LCGS Gem New 65PPQ

+

During the final days of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s administration, his Secretary of the Treasury, Henry H. Fowler, resigned. Since no new currency could be printed without an acting Secretary, President Johnson quickly appointed Joseph W. Barr to this cabinet post. Since Johnson’s term was about to expire, Barr’s tenure would last only 28 days. It was the shortest tenure in the history of the United States Treasury!

This gorgeous note features the autograph of Joseph Barr, directly above his engraved signature and is acknowledged by PCGS as a courtesy autograph.

While only in office for 28 days, Barr notes were a prolific issue to say the least. What is not too common is to see one with Joseph Barr's actual courtesy autograph on it.
