$100 1922 Gold Cert, Fr. 1215 GOLD COIN HUNDRED Benton PMG Ch VF 35EPQ

The $100 Gold Certificate depicts Missouri Senator Thomas Hart Benton who was known as "Old Bullion" due to his support for "hard money" rather than paper money during his political career. It seems quite fitting that he ended up on this $100 Gold Certificate. The note is quite colorful with the serial number panels and the word GOLD printed in gold, the treasury seal in red, and the back in a brilliant orange-gold hue.  This example displays deep gold color that makes for a nice representative for the type; however, most impressively it easily earned the three coveted letters "EPQ" indicating this note has Exceptional Paper Quality and has been preserved with original surfaces and paper. Of the 75 pieces reported in this grade, only a handful have the EPQ/ PPQ designation, with this being a new addition to the census. The last example of a 35EPQ sold in 2022 for $4320 at a Stacks Bowers sale. As we know, almost nothing is the same price today as it was in 2022; however, at Executive Currency, we're pleased to alllow a collector to have this note delivered even cheaper today than another could've been purchased at the last auction appearance. While those with problems, pinholes, repairs, restoration, and more are available regularly, there are often several years between auction appearances for opportunities to acquire a fully-original, mid-grade, and attractive hundred dollar gold certificate from 1922.  Vibrant color on both sides, it's waiting to be shipped.
