While it's possible the entire stack of sheets skipped the first stage of the printing process, the more likely explanation is that two (or more) sheets stuck together when entering the press and only the top sheet received the inked impression. As such, there is no ink or evidence of the back printing on this magnificent mistake that's been preserved in high-grade and fully-original.
