STAR NOTES
are among the HOTTEST SEGMENT of the
CURRENCY MARKET
as recent auctions have proven!
Star notes are replacements for notes that were damaged or
misprinted during the printing process. The damaged note would be destroyed and
a new note would be printed to maintain an accurate count. Until 1910, the
replacement note would have the exact serial number (including block letters)
as the one destroyed. The BEP quickly realized this was too time consuming and
began to print a small quantity of star notes in advance of the regular issues.
Once the inspectors located a defective note, the replacement (star) note would
be inserted. In most cases, the star note would not have an identical serial
number as the one it replaced.
Star notes are significantly rarer than regular issue notes and deserve
an opportunity to be placed within your collection.
Only 320k of these notes printed!
