United States Error Notes
are among the
HOTTEST SEGMENTS of the CURRENCY MARKET
recent auctions have proven!
“The insufficient inking error develops when the ink
fountain fails to fully charge or fill the printing plate with ink. The ink fountain stores the ink alongside the
press. When the reservoir runs low,
pressure weakens, or a partial obstruction in the supply tube occurs,
inadequate amounts of ink flood the
intaglio design in the plate. The net
result is a printed image which is faint or incomplete.”
On this note the Color Shift Ink "20" in the lower right corner of the face is missing completely. This is a scarce error that occurs only on the 1996 notes series.
