Description:

an   IMPORTANT  FISCAL  RELIC--dating back 150 years

 

from  a  "fresh"  hoard

which came out of a New Orleans

SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX

in the 1960s and remained intact until acquired by our firm;

the contents also included silver and gold coinage of the era

 

 

this was a CASH HOARD, not a true collection

 

MANY  of  the  SPECIMENS  are ENTIRELY  PROBLEM-FREE

however,,

SOME of these NOTES have "REPAIRS" or PATCHES put on

in antiquity--not intended to deceive, merely to

complete or circulate the note

 

PLEASE  REVIEW the  SCANNED  IMAGES  CAREFULLY

 

as some notes have faults, such as edge splits, tiny holes, discoloration, etc which should be evident in the scans

major faults will be briefly described

many are entirely problem-free!

 

none will qualify as the finest known, but almost all are nice representative examples from this historic era involving the

 

CIVIL  WAR

or the

WAR  BETWEEN  the  STATES

 

this specimen is a

$20    from  September 2, 1861

known as a

T-20

it grades approximately

 EXTREMELY FINE;

with some rust in the upper left corner.

Industry seated at center behind numeral "20" and between cupid and beehive.  Alexander Hamilton Stephens at left.
