Description:
The U.S. switched from large to small size currency in 1928 as a cost-saving measure. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing instructed the ABNC to create a pattern for the redesign with the front in black and the back in green--like the adopted color scheme. These were printed on intaglio presses with machinery still in use. Of especial importance is the watermark as an anti-counterfeiting measure...something the BEP would adopt seven decades later. These SPECIMEN NOTES are denominated "10" and bear series of 1929, with a central image of Columbia. Currency patterns--like those for coinage--rank among the most elusive and historically important fiscal relics within numismatics. As a rule, such rarities command thousands of dollars. Seizing the opportunity at the 2010 ANA, we acquired the handful of available pieces and take pride bringing them to the collecting community. Authenticated, certified, and graded by PCGS.

Note grades PCGS 66 PPQ Gem New.
